The teacher as a coach – The influence of assimilating coaching tools among educational teams on cognitive flexibility and self-regulated learning skills of students.

“… For this let us study the healthy soul of the human being. We will focus on the exhibition of happiness, joy, serenity of soul, satisfaction, play and elevation. In addition, we will learn about positive characteristics such as generosity, righteousness and friendship. Let us observe people who are realizing their potentials (self fulfillment) and use these observations as the basis of a psychological science”. Maslow

Coaching is a guiding process that helps the individual to clarify values, strengths, priorities and to realize inner individual potentials (self fulfillment) for the purpose of guiding or leading the individual to achieve personal goals and beneficial results. Through the tools and the skills that coaching provides, a person can preserve motivation and overcome obstacles while achieving his/her goals and experiencing happiness (Hermel-Stanesco, 2015).

The term cognitive flexibility  was first defined by Sapiro and Gang (1990),  as ” the ability of the individual to rebuild his/her knowledge so to match a reaction according to the requirements of varying situations”, the same variations were defined by Martin Anderson and others in (1998);  as the individual’s awareness of the fact that there are suitable options and available alternatives for any given situation.

The ability to be ready for this flexibility, to have the ability to adjust to a situation and yet to be flexible in it. (Celikkalelie, 2014)

In the definition of  Self-Regulating Learning, expansion is an intentional targeted behavior, for example ambition, personal ambition, goals and ambitions in inter-personal relationships and more.

The term ‘personal control’ on the other hand is used in general as a short definition of processes of Self-Regulated Learning in unwanted behavior, like addictions, inner drives and more (Hofmann et al., 2012).

Self Management is a general term that relates to a variety of components that are meant to describe the heart of Internal Control ( Chafouleas et al., 2011).  Caniel (2013) adds that self management is expressed in the influence an individual has over events and situations around him/her and their consequences knowing when he/she has to work on his character and when to work on the environment and in cases being able to work on both, taking responsibility and bearing the consequences.

The Educational Humanitarian Method was defined by Maslow (1954) as a scientific study of creativity, affection, high values, autonomy, growth, self fulfillment and provision of basic needs. Humanitarian psychology is characterized by a tendency to promote kindness and respectfulness to all humans, as well regarding the belief in man’s natural ability to hold positive humanitarian values, to evaluate man’s special traits and the belief that man can control his fate and has the ability to change (Jingna, 2012). This approach entitles teachers to be equipped with tools, skills and abilities in order to provide personal assistance to every student (AL-Khalidi, 2015).
